Ongoing volunteer programs
- Parent Partners – Work directly with students or assist staff members during school hours. Scheduling is flexible, contact the Parent Partners coordinator, Christy Pine, c/o firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
- Media assistants – Shelve books and staff the check-out desk in the school Media Center. Volunteers are needed for 1-2 hours on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Contact email@example.com for details.
- Crafty Cougars – Make posters, pamphlets, and decorations for various school and PTA events. Contact Rachael Kelly c/o firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
PTA committee positions
Chairpersons needed! The PTA’s nominating committee is seeking volunteers to fill positions for the 2020-2021 school year. View the PDF to find available roles and contact information: Open PTA positions 20-21 (pdf).
After-school classes – Help schedule classes and manage registrations, in compliance with PTA Council rules.
Awards Committee – Help apply for teacher recognition awards by gathering letters of nomination and creating and submitting application packages.
Bingo Night – Help plan Bingo Night or volunteer at the event, e.g., set-up, clean-up, and prize distribution.
Book Fair – Assist in the sale of books for after-school and evenings during American Education Week and November conference days.
Carnival – Assist with set up of booths and running the games for this special PTA social activity.
Community Outreach – Participate in the student-centered, outreach program, where students participate in community service projects.
Cultural Arts – Assist with the school’s cultural arts performances during the school year. Activities may include suggesting appropriate artists or greeting artists on performance days.
Family Fun Night – Help set up, hand out ice cream to kids, and/or clean up at our fun family DJ event.
Fitness and Health – Help organize a team from CCES to run in the Howard County 5K. Help plan and organize Family Fit Night in January. Help CCES have an Orioles Night at Camden Yards!
Holiday Shop — Assist in creating the holiday shop for students to purchase gifts for family and friends for the holidays. Help with check-out, wrapping, set up, and clean up.
Inclusion – Work with the school’s special education staff to promote, support and recognize students receiving special education services.
International Night – Assist with planning activities and helping the night of the event. Also looking for parents to host a table and share their culture/heritage via games, food, artifacts, etc. at the event.
Membership – Help plan the PTA membership drive. Help is needed primarily in late August/September and occasionally later in the year.
Memory Book – Assist the yearbook chairperson in collecting payments and distributing yearbooks.
Parent Partners – Work one-on-one with students who need extra help in math or language arts.
Paw Print Press – Help publish books written and illustrated by each CCES student.
Reflections – Assist with preparing student entries for this National PTA arts contest. Publicize, collect, prepare and judge entries.
School Play – Work with outside vendor and school to schedule practices and performance dates, work as a parent volunteer during practices, or help out with tasks on the night of the events.
Science Fair – Assist with organizing and implementing this special event.
Spirit Wear – Assist with the assembly of orders or distribution.
Staff Appreciation – Volunteer to donate food items (store bought or homemade), supplies, or time to help with set-up and clean-up for events for CCES staff. Events are scheduled both during the school day and evenings.
Talent Show – Help with coordination of the event or work as a parent volunteer during rehearsals or on the night of the show.
